Should be leaving home on the 11th of August for our next big adventure, not as long as the last one but hopefully as much fun.

Our trip is over. 31972 miles there and back
As we drive these last few miles towards home. I am reflecting on our trip. We have been blessed to see so much of this country. From the Atlantic to the Pacific, down to the Rio Grande. Over the Rockies, up through Canada to Alaska. Through the farmlands, over the deserts,. Down to the Mexican border.
Over the continental divide through all the Time zones and back.We have seen the birthplaces or graves of the cowboys we have all read about. Followed parts of the Lewis and Clark trails, marveled at the fact that our ancestors survived many of the routes they took.
Went to the hottest spot in the US (no not Las Vegas) Death Valley. Saw the highest mountain in North America.
Visited friends, Capitol buildings, lighthouses, old church's and missions, and the North Pole.
Best of all we have seen and hiked in many of the national parks. We have seen wild animals in there natural terrain which we have loved. Wild flowers everywhere, so pretty.
Went to caverns, a rodeo, hot springs. Had a free meal and a show.
And yes we did visit Las Vegas, San Fransico, Seattle, and more other cities.
No poison ivy out west. Very few Mosquitos.
Learnt a few things about my husband I never knew. Been married 47 years always something new to learn. (Wonder what he found out about me)

Our trip is winding down
We will be with our eldest daughter in Texas for a few days now, before heading back home. Right now it is cold here, cold windy and wet. Hoping it will clear so we can enjoy our last few days. So if I don't post anything for awhile you will know I am here.

Lighthouses
Finished with lighthouses on the gulf did you know that lighthouses are not really used any more. So a lot of them have been moved from there original place and are now on land just for the historic value.
We have seen oil rigs in the gulf and lots of refinaries on the land. In some areas the houses are on stilts, other they are not. The whole gulf coast that people are living on is very low to the sea if not below sea level.
The beauty of the area for me is the abundants of birds we have seen that travel through here.
